With January now gone, and a gigantic hole in our purses and wallets after the array of wildly great shows announced, we revisit January to remember how good these shows actually were.

As you know, we send a team of reviewers and photographers to quite a few concerts, so we got them to choose their favourites! And have a look before as you might be featured after commenting on our social media channels.

Steel Panther & Wayward Sons
The Limelight 1, Belfast
19th January 2018

“To get the opportunity to photograph a band I have wanted to see for a very long time, especially during the debut Irish show was a dream come. A gig that was full of energy, sexiness and hilarity just made it all worth the wait.” Marc Leach

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes
Mandela Hall, Belfast
28th January 2018

“This was rescheduled from November and the wait was entirely worth it. These guys blow my cobwebs off every time, I regress to my madder teens. Best frontman in a long time and conducts the safest surfing…. ever! Inspires the most musical excitement within, atmosphere fab!” Bernie McAllister

Lau - Out To Lunch 2018

Lau
Black Box, Belfast
24th January 2018

Superb musicianship, diversity and fabulous sound lifted this way above your normal folk gig. Not forgetting Morag. First time seeing this band play live and woukd go back again at the drop of a hat.” Michael Barbour

Motionless In White - mandela hall 2018

Motionless in White
Mandela Hall, Belfast
15th January 2018

An interesting gig for me as I hadn’t listened to them beyond one song, discovered an intensely theatrical and well-choreographed performance that was a rather electrifying industrial-gothic experience with the audience enthralled and seduced by the energetic Chris Cerulli, well worth the admission and a pleasant surprise! Conor Kinahan

Public Service Broadcasting - Limelight 2018

Public Service Broadcasting
The Limelight, Belfast
25th January 2018

What do you get when you fuse the story of the demise of the coal mining industry in South Wales, The Race for Space and public information films with electronica, pop, indie and rock. Public Service Broadcast. The fact they can put these together let alone play the songs live is pure genius.” Michael Ferguson
